Hear from our MD & members...

Anne Whitehead – Musical Director
Anne has a lifelong love of music and a huge amount of experience as a choral singer, soloist, and member of a touring all-female vocal ensemble.
From an early age, she was surrounded by all kinds of music – from Bach to Broadway – and has gone on to sing in some wonderful venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York, and many churches and concert venues across the UK.
Anne is never happier than when she’s singing and conducting The Village Voices, sharing her passion, energy, and love of music with the choir.
She also works at a local independent school as part of the Music and Performing Arts Department, teaching Nursery to Year 2 children the basics of music and helping them discover the joy of singing.
Anne is married to Gareth and has a son, Adam, twin daughters Imogen and Olivia, and a much-loved grandson, Tyler.

Maia Pearce – Pianist
Maia is a highly respected and much-loved pianist who retired after 12 years as Head of Music at a well-known local independent school. Her versatility, musicianship, and calm support are hugely appreciated by the choir – and especially by our MD!

(Optional)
Maia met her “love of her life”, Ian, a successful session guitarist, while he was touring with the famous 1960s band The Rubettes. Together they enjoyed many years of musical adventures across Europe.
Staying active and healthy is important to Maia, so she enjoys fitness classes, theatre trips, and regular visits to garden centres to add to her ever-growing plant collection. She’s also currently learning to play the harp!

Choir Members
(optional)"Village Voices are more than just a choir – we’re a supportive community where friendships grow and voices come together.”
— Anne Whitehead

Our members often talk about the joy of performing, the laughter at rehearsals, and the strong friendships formed along the way.
“A wonderful evening spent in good company – a thoroughly enjoyable night,” said Brenda after a recent concert.“We all had a wonderful evening,” added Julie.

Elaine commented,
“Fabulous smiles and fabulous outfits matched the singing!”

For many, The Village Voices is about far more than music. It offers friendship, encouragement, and support – sometimes at moments when it’s needed most. That sense of care and connection is what makes our choir so special.
